Today in Liberia about 3.6 million people lives on less than $1 US a day. You’ve read correctly, and the unfortunate truth is they have no choice. It is well known that a parent who is unable to provide the basic necessities such as food, and water for their children on a daily basis will hardly consider sending their children to school for an education.

Food and shelter come first, whereas an education is viewed more as a luxury. It is well known that high levels of illiteracy and poverty are great predictors and are some of the main causes of strife, kidnapping, war and other social crises in developing countries such as Liberia. We at Bridge Liberia, consider it a great achievement to be able to support at least one child to live a fulfilling life.
